January 2015 – Book of the Month

IMG_2733In line with my committment to actively read more, my chosen Book of the Month for January was Guy Martin – My Autobiography.

…I am going to confess that my reading of the book has been taking me a little longer than I anticipated due to other commitments and I still have not yet completed the book, but I am making a concerted effort to get it finished as soon as possible.

I have always been a big fan of Guy Martin, not least for his Motorcycling career, but also for his huge interest in anything mechanical.

I have to be honest, the book is a very easy read, the writing style just flows, and at times I could swear that I can hear that distinctive Guy Martin voice in my head, almost like he is reading the story to me.

I thoroughly enjoy the way that Guy tells the story of his life and family and really paints a great picture of his parents and siblings, combined with the determination and hard work that he puts into his motorcycles, to ensure that he gives everything of himself, both on and off the track. Guy takes the time to explain things, even to the reader that may not be au fait with the finer details of motorcycle racing. telling the story of his climb to fame.

I am really sorry, that I have fallen on this first hurdle of my committment to read one book per month, but I can assure you there have been some extenuating circumstances, that I may enlighten you all to later, but I will update you all further when I have completed the book, and moved onto my choice of book for February.
